Yamaha FZ-s Long term ownership Review

Hello everyone,
Welcome to the new article, today i m going to share with you some honest opinions about the bike Yamaha FZ-S, Thanks to owner Mr. NILESH MISHRA for giving us their valuable time and their bike for review purpose and told us about the whole ownership experience.
Side View

Back in 2014 Yamaha FZ got update and Yamaha FZ got fuel injection and a new engine. Peak power and maximum torque was increased and was loss in weight.

Talking about the bike, the bike was purchased on 29 January 2018. The bike clocked 10,000+ kms in 1year. The choosing Yamaha FZ-S was not a easy decision as segment has many of rivals like Honda Hornet, TVS Apache, Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar. But Why Yamaha ?

The Engine of Yamaha and Reliability of bike is USP here all other bikes lack on features or on Engine Refinement, if everything is Perfect long term ownership is hard.

FZ Looks

The design and appearance of this bike was a clean breath of air. The motorcycle managed to get the eye of consumers who have been fed-up of elderly Bajaj Pulsar and other everyday 150cc motorcycles. The bike feels a generation fresh of its competitors in terms of styling. FZ16 looks compact and macho. Its headlight looks agressive with small pilot lamp below it looks like teeth og beast. Small tiny indicators are placed perfectly. The front telescopic shock absorbers, tyres and mudguard is wider feels more strong and matured in segment.
The side profile of the bike is sweet loving spot for everyone it looks more beautiful and eye catching from side its uplifted fuel tank body panels and dual toned silencer make you fall in love. Everthing is placed properly rear tailights number plate doesn't looks more on down or upside its simply perfectly positioned. Rear fender and semi chain cover is not noticed in first looks but makes bike to standout from crowd.

FZ Ride posture, Instrument Console and Switchgears

The meter console of FZ16 could be very cutting-edge and one of a kind than its rivals, it features odometer, tripmeter, tachometer, speedometer and digital fuel gauge, it uses orange backlight illumination and it can be read without difficulty. The sitting posture on bike is also comfortable you will never feel any difficulties in driving day to day traffic and occasional highway drives. You sit straight and view from mirror is also good you can see everything in the back, the quality of the switchgear is top notch and yes it comes with engine kill switch which lacks on most of hondas and hero motorcycles. Everything used materials feels upmarket and are soft to use.

Engine and Performance

Yamaha has used an air-cooled, four stroke 149cc engine for the FZ Version 2.0. This SOHC, single cylinder engine yields out a maximum power output of 12.8 bhp at 8000 rpm and torque of 12.8 Nm can be achieved at 6000 rpm. This engine is mated with a five speed manual gearbox with one gear down and four gears up-shift pattern.
Yamaha FZ16's 149cc engine is specially designed for Indian conditions. The bike plays definitely nicely at low rpms. The bike makes use of maximum of its torque at early rpms which makes it perfect for town utilization. Even in bigger gears at gradual speeds, the motorcycle selections up absolutely well. Power shipping is very smooth and fun and you don't need to wait a lot for the power. Throttle response is high-quality in its class. As some distance as engine refinement is involved, it is the fine 150cc engine in recent times. This bike feels a long way greater responsive and refined than Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache. Gear ratios are very well designed and give the motorcycle an advantage over others with adequate amount of torque. It may not be wrong to say that it's the best engineered bike in its section. In reality if you examine this motorbike with others like Pulsar 180 and Apache 180, the bike is quite capable to give them a tough fight in the mid-range. It's only after 6000rpm whilst this engine loses its strength.

Braking and Ride Handling

Braking of the bikes is perfect on tarmac road but on bad patches it performance is hard to best. It has 267mm disc brakes at front and drum at rear. The riding is very agile in city you can go out easily from long traffics. it has wide rear tyre of 140/60-R17 and front of 100/80-R17, the stock tyres are Tubeless and gives good grip.
Ride feels not too soft and not to stiff the suspensions work perfect for city conditions, FZ has rear monoshock which absorbs shocks and keep ride smooth n comfy, along the journey. FZ has best suspension system in its class. The brakes have enough bite to stop bike in time and so bike becomes unbeatable in segment.

Service costs.

Yamaha gives 6 free services with bike in each service you have to change oil and oil filter which costs near about 350rs.
Service schedule in 3000kms
1. 1000kms, 3000kms, 6000kms, 9000kms - overall checkup and oil and oil filter change.
Till date 4 services are done and no major issues with bike. The bike feels light on pocket in terms of service and maintenance.

Kitna Deti Hai (fuel efficiency)

As per owner according to his driving conditions he manages atmost 50kmpl.
If driven hard and rush gives 45-48kmpl.
The owner has also experienced 55+kmpl on highway ride if driven in eco mode on.
So we can conclude bike is also most fuel efficient in segment due its Fuel injection technology.

Honest Opinion about the bike

The bike feels so refined and smooth like new after 10k kms even engine is feels so refined in segment.
No ratling of body parts after long use also. The wide tyres provides superb grip and stability even on high speeds. The wide handlebar gives you a perfect hold of it and the bike steers accurately. No doubt  It's a brilliant bike around corners and gives you immense hold and confidence. Its strong suspension, high ground clearance (160mm) and wheelbase of 1334mm keeps this bike grounded and allows you to cruise nicely on highways.

If you want to buy a bike which lasts long for 7-8 years close your eyes and book a FZ
