Maruti Suzuki Baleno Launched BS-VI Compliant Upgraded Existing petrol engine as well New Dual Jet Smart Hybrid Engine.

News:
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been launched with two BS-VI-compliant petrol engine options which has been upgraded to meet the more
stringent emission norms as well company's Smart Hybrid Technology.
  • Existing Petrol K12B engine 1.2-litre is upgraded to meet BS-VI Norms.
  • The new 1.2-litre K12C Dual-Jet with the Smart Hybrid system (SHVS) is launched to meet BS-VI Norms.

What is Bharat Stage (BS) VI Norms and why it is required?
To reduce air pollution from Motor vehicles Indian government will be implementing International Euro VI norms.
Indian emission norms are based on Euro VI norms and named it BS-VI.

How it Works?
With appropriate fuel and technology, limit the release of air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter (PM) and
sulphur oxides from vehicles using internal combustion engines.

How BS-VI Engine Technology has been offered by Suzuki.
In order to achieve this stringent emission regulation requirement, company has upgraded both engine hardware & software along with exhaust system.
The Engine has been upgraded multi-point injection for improved efficiency.
With both engines being BS-VI-compliant, Maruti Suzuki says both engines bring a reduction of 25 percent in Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.

What is Suzuki SHVS and how it Works?
Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki system (SHVS) is built around an Integrated Starter Generator that is paired to a very small li-ion battery, which is placed beneath the passenger seat.
The car then adds voltage to the battery under braking moments, and reuses the stored energy to restart the engine once warm, and provide a mild ‘energy boost’ under acceleration.
There is a marginal increase in performance and a healthy reduction in fuel consumption.
